During the Qing Dynasty in the Qianlong era, it was presented as a tribute to the imperial court. The plums are known for their sweet and fragrant taste, easy-to-remove pits, and the unique ability to split into three large sections once ripe. Their pure, natural flavor has made them a favorite among locals.

Dongshaoqu Town is the birthplace of the Emperor’s Plum, often referred to as the “Hometown of Emperor’s Plums.”

Characteristics

The Emperor’s Plum has a thin yellow skin with golden flesh. It is thick, juicy, and has a small, easy-to-remove pit. When ripe and harvested, you can hear the soft, distinct sound of the pit separating from the flesh. The fruit is sweet, fragrant, and sticky, with a fine, abundant fiber. Rich in nutrients, it contains 17 essential amino acids and other important nutrients. It is known for its medicinal properties, such as clearing the lungs, expelling phlegm, improving digestion, and nourishing the liver.

Development

Dongshaoqu Town has registered the “Shiya” and “Yuhuang” trademarks for local plums and holds annual “Emperor’s Plum Festival,” greatly promoting the growth of the Emperor’s Plum industry. The largest organic Emperor’s Plum orchard in the region is located south of Shiya Village, covering 1,000 acres and producing one million kilograms annually.
